A visual exploration
of our intimate worlds

Through my lens

Photography came into my life at the same time as humanitarian work during a one-year stay in Syria from 2010 to 2011.

I bought my first digital compact camera when I arrived to Damascus, with an infinite desire to explore the city's bustling streets. Little did I know that less than a year after my arrival a civil war was going to break out and shatter my life to pieces.

Ever since, photography has become a faithful companion. It taught me the value of transcending our most intimate feelings by transforming them into a visual language that helps connect people and their stories. It showed me the value of conscious observation and the healing power of art.

More than 10 years later, I am working as a communications professional in an international humanitarian organisation that provides assistance to populations whose lives are impacted by war and violence.

This blog is an attempt to pay tribute to all the people who  -  day in and day out - persevere and continue to find beauty in what they do. It brings together my combined passions for photography, human diversity, mental health and beautiful design.

I hope you enjoy getting lost in its pages as much as I do!
